Malinalco celebrates
as always the September festivities to the sound of "Viva México!"
The first week of September the Virgin of "La Candelaria" is celebrated
in San Juan.
Its still raining, specially by night, which makes us sleep alot better
and our surroundings luscious, happy and green. The fields are beginning
to get covered with flowers of all colors, specially the Saint John's
Wort, that is typically used here for tea, but specially to make the
small crosses you can find on each doorway of Malinalco that are placed
there on the 29th of September to protect the home from the devil who
that day is loose in town till Saint Michael wins the battle on that
day (the day of Saint Michael).
We recommend the Rebozo Fair in Tenancingo. Traditional
and beautiful fair that makes honor to this very traditional clothing
item that is so magistically made in Tenancingo.

Arts and Crafts Market of Malinalco
Inauguration
La Casona
Corner of Hidalgo and Morelos
Some of you may remember a few years back when this Market was first
established at La Casona. It was agreable and organized by many of
our artisans. This effort is renewed, thanks to the eternal efforts
of our Jaime Vélez (who is the one responsible for producing the
Malinalli Aloe Products) to help the local artisans and help the
local economy of the less priviledged with a conscience towards the
environment. We invite you to come to this new Market, in the hopes
of it lasting for a long time and making many families a better living
and a window to the world of the many talents and abilities of our
people.

"Un Kilometro de Plata" ("A Kilometer of Silver") for the DIF of Malinalco
Main Downtown Garden
11:00 - 4:00 p.m.
The Rehab Unit of the DIF of Malinalco needs
equipment, needs to be rebuilt and modified to suit the needs of
the region. This unit helps the disabled and the elderly of the
Municipality to regain movement, faith, and strength (phisical
and emotional). It is important yet the DIF is finding it hard
to meet the needs as the money they receive from State and Federal
Government is not sufficient.
The goal is to coin by coin, bill by bill, or check by ckeck to
accumulate $600,000 pesos or more to rebuild the unit and hopefully
furnish it with all that is required by this portion of the community.
With our first Malitón $75,000 were acquired and are still
waiting in the bank account.
Friday's event will consist on all visitors giving a coin, a bill
or many until we have 1 km or more of money. We hope that at least
the goal is met if not more. If you are near Malinalco, please come
and participate. Our entire community will be thankful for your donation.
If you won't be in Malinalco on that day, you can
still help by making a deposit at Banorte, Account
No. 0165598240 in the name of Sistema DIF Malinalco and if you require
a deductable receipt you can request it at the DIF of Malinalco offices.

Best Friends Of Dogs and Cats Of Malinalco and the Municipality of Malinalco
present the,
Educational Video
Las Palomas Restaurant
6:30 p.m.
If you like dog and/or cats, this will interest
you.
If you do NOT like dogs and/or cats, this
WILL interest you as well.
Why?
Because nobody, and let me repeat, NOBODY likes to have Stray sick
dogs roaming the streets of Malinalco or to have your house invaded
by cats that do not belong to you.
Did you know...
that the Spaying and Nuttering Free Program
for Dogs and Cats has gone all over the Municipality and will for a
long time and has spayed and nuttered 357 dogs and cats (as of today)?
Did you know that the adoption and sacrifice
of stray and sick dogs has been functioning for a a few months
now and has sacrificed 140 old, sick or agressive dogs and has
found happy homes for 8 abandoned puppies?
All of it was accomplished by the generosity of people like you
who, with their ideas or donations, have helped make it possible
and in coordination with the right authorities slowly but surely
will meet our goals of heath and well being we all need and want.
We have advanced and we realize that part of it has to be education
to create the conciousness needed. So with the effort of many, the
donations of a few and the enthusiasm of the dog loving few who weren't
camera shy, we created and educational video to show in schools and
around the Municipality. It is about dogs and how they are good friends
of ours, and good if we learn how to take care of them, but bad and
a serious health problem if we don't.
We invite you to see this video which will be presented
for the first time on friday, 17th of September, at 6:30 p.m. at
Las Palomas Restaurant.
Please don't forget your checkbook, we need funds as none of what
we do to solve the problem is free and we need your help.
We hope you can assist. If you cannot, we can tell you more about
what we do and how you can help. Just click
here and send us an email,
or tell us about someone else who could be interested in helping.
Our Municipal President, Ing. Germán Amilpa, will
be at the presentation and we hope you will be as well.

Saint Michael, The Archangel
All over Malinalco, on this day, small crosses made with flowers
are placed on each doorway, as it is believed that until Saint Michael
defeats the Devil, the Devil is loose and the crosses will protect
your home or business so he won't come in. All over town this is
done and we celebrate his victory on this day. It is one of the most
beautiful and old traditions of Malinalco.
