March gives
us windy and warm days that we longed for, as the trees bloom and spring
announces its arrival. The birds and the bees are busy at work and the
sunsets and evenings invaded by the aroma of jasmines and other nightly
sweet surprises. March is a great month to visit Malinalco as the 21st
of March is the Spring Equinox and many come to our pyramid to get charged
with energy all dressed in white.
Don't be surprised as some of our farmers burn their
lands to cover them with ashes and nourish the earth for the future
crops to profit from it, but sadly sometimes the wind extends them
where they were not intended. We hope the fire will not play to much
this year and will limit itself to the land it was supposed to burn.
There is little hope for this tradition to stop so we pray and hope
for the best.
We want to congratulate Nieves Malinali
as we just found out they opened a new store in Cuernavaca! We are
proud to see that their hard work and the quality of the product is
being appreciated elsewhere.

Expo "Ver hacia adentro" (Inner Vision or Insight)
by Andrés Medina
Casa de la Cultura Malinalxochitl
Inauguration the 27th of March at 7:00 p.m.
"To live in Malinalco is almost to live in a dream, to cross
known streets that step by step become spaces of other times; scenes
populated by non existing things appear on the limits of what is
real. The plastic work I create is nourished by dreamlike sensations
and situations that allow me to extend the possibilities of perception
and feeling in a more authentic and rich way.
Sometimes I dream I am lost in Malinalco (even though know am not),
entering mystery filled spaces, finding areas with luminous greens
and beings that inhabit inside trees. To trespass the painting or
carving, the textures of the landscapes tattooed with dreamlike textures,
as well as rediscovering birds fairies or inhabitants of other realities,
charged with mysticism and magic is the constant of my creative work."

La Unión Cactus
On your way to Malinalco ( Km. 15 of the road from Jajalpa to Malinalco)
We highly recommend visiting La Union. The effort this group of
people make everyday to grow from the seed wonderful specimens of
different cactus that are or were in danger of extinction is remarkable.
Yazmin and her family seem to live completely dedicated to this effort
every day of the year, with passion, enthusiasm, love and generosity.
If you are coming our way around the month of March it is a particularly
good time to visit since many of these plants are in full bloom and
some of them have spectacular flowers. It is also the best time to
buy them as it is the best time to transplant them without them suffering
the changes of climate and light as much as other times of the year
when they are dormant and are difficult to move around.
